Title: Manage Stress Through Self-Care
September is here! That means school has started and mommy duty has kicked up into high gear. In the coming months your utility bills will increase due to the cooler temperature, this may cause financial stress for some families. Due to taking that much needed 2 week vacation this summer, you can forget about calling out of work and taking a “mental health” day. You will need to put that on hold until January.
Although this all sounds like doom, there is hope for you yet! You can manage your stress by remembering the importance of self care. Just a few hours a week will do you a world of good. Your body and mind will thank you!
Many of us have so many responsibilities in life that we often forget about making time for self-care. And while it is hard to prioritize something like taking a relaxing bubble bath or soaking your tired feet, self care is an important aspect of stress management.
Self care & your physical health:
Self –care does not usually lead to major improvement in our overall health the way a healthy diet and exercise can. However, the relaxation you get from it can trigger the relaxation response, which prevents chronic stress from damaging your health.
Self care & your emotions:
Taking time to care for yourself can remind you and others that your needs are important. Having a well cared for body can make you feel good about yourself and your life.
Self-care makes you a better care taker:
When you are a person with a lot of responsibilities caring for others, it can be extremely difficult finding time for yourself. People who neglect their own needs and forget to nurture themselves are at danger of deeper levels of unhappiness, low self- esteem, and feeling resentment. Taking time to care for yourself regularly can make you a better care taker of others!
Be sure to make self–care a priority! You deserve a break.
